How to choose personalized children's Christmas books

Three questions narrow the list quickly.

Who is in the story? Most books star one child. If you are buying for siblings or the whole family, look at Wonderbly's The Christmas Snowflake (up to 9 family names), I See Me!'s Our Family's Night Before Christmas (up to 6 kids plus a family photo) or How My Dog Saved Christmas (the family dog is the hero).

Name only, or a look-alike character? Storybug's Night Before Christmas personalizes the name. Wonderbly, Hooray Heroes, Letterfest, Dinkleboo and Librio let you pick hair, skin tone and other details so the illustrated child resembles yours. None of the Christmas books on this list paints the child's actual face from a photo; I See Me!'s family book adds a photo of your family to the page.

Will it be read after December? A Christmas story gets pulled out once a year, which is part of its charm. If you want something they will open all year, see the last pick below.

8. Personalized The Night Before Christmas, Storybug

Storybug's Night Before Christmas puts the child's name into the classic poem, printed on recycled paper. Hardcover was $34.98, and the page says it ships from the USA within three working days.

Best for: a longer story for ages 2–8.

13. A keepsake for after Christmas: Museme's personalized art book

Full disclosure: Museme is our book, and it is not a Christmas story. We include it because many parents and grandparents shopping this list want a gift the child keeps opening after the tree comes down.

Instead of a look-alike character, the Museme personalized art book is made from one clear photo of your child. The child becomes the subject of 12 paintings inspired by 12 artists, from Klimt and Van Gogh to Frida Kahlo and Basquiat. It is a 32-page hardcover with a dedication page, and each artist page introduces the artist and asks the child a question by name.

How it works: you upload a photo and pay (in the US, $49.99 for one copy, $94.99 for two and $134.99 for three, plus shipping: $7.99 for one copy and $1.50 for each extra copy). A preview of the whole book arrives by email within 24 hours, and nothing is printed until you approve every page. If you are not happy with the preview, Museme remakes it or refunds you in full, as long as you have not approved it for printing.

Best for: ages 3–10, and a gift from grandparents that doubles as a first art book.

Ordering in time for Christmas

None of the twelve Christmas book pages above listed a Christmas order-by date when we checked. The production or dispatch times they did state range from 48 hours to four working days, and some quote 7–10 business days for standard delivery on top of that. Add the time you need to approve a preview or proof, and order by early December to be safe. Each brand posts its own holiday cutoff closer to the date, so check it before you check out.

For Museme, the product page shows an estimated delivery window based on today's date; you control the middle step, because printing starts only after you approve the preview.

FAQ

What is the best personalized Christmas book for siblings?
Look for a book that names several children in one story. On this list, I See Me!'s Our Family's Night Before Christmas includes up to six kids, and Wonderbly's The Christmas Snowflake includes up to nine family names.

Can I put my child's photo in a personalized Christmas book?
Most personalized Christmas books use an illustrated character that you customize (hair, skin tone, eyes) rather than a photo. I See Me!'s family book adds a family photo to a page. If you want the child's own face painted throughout, a photo-based book such as Museme's art book does that, though it is not Christmas-themed.

What age is a personalized Christmas book for?
Most books on this list are written for ages 0–8. Hooray Heroes' Merry Christmas, Kiddo is listed for ages 0–12, and Letterfest's North Pole Adventure is listed for ages 2–6.

How much does a personalized Christmas book cost?
Hardcovers on this list ranged from $27.99 (on sale) to $54.99 when we checked on October 27, 2026. Softcovers were $10–18 less.
